Oppression in the name of honour

The City of Borås has produced a handbook as a guidance for how we want to work against oppression and violence related to issues of honour. It is primarily aimed at personnel in our schools and the social services, but can also be used by our partners.

The handbook gives knowledge about the complex of problems. It is meant as a background for creating plans of action, and for discussions in organizations and at places of work about violence related to honour.

The handbook offers a pattern for how for instance a school can create a plan of action against violence related to honour. It also describes a method for how the social services can act in cases of such violence.

We hope that the practical approch will lead to a better and more straight-forward co-operation between organizations, not least between schools and social services. Hopefully, the handbook gives a handy support for the work against violence related to honour and in the close encounters with the suffering girls.
