SJÖBO - Compulsory Schools

The borough of Sjöbo has 2 compulsory schools - Sjöboskolan and Erikslundskolan. They both have primary school classes 6-12 years and Erikslundskolan also has high school classes.

Erikslundskolan is situated between the sports ground, Ryavallen, and Saltemad camping site, beside the Viskan river.

Sjöboskolan was built in the 50´s when Sjöbo was expanding, and was renovated in 2002. It offers a 21st century school environment.

WELCOME TO ERIKSLUNDSKOLAN

Tucked in behind the impressive Komvux building and between the sports arena Ryavallen and camping site Saltemad, is a grey building, Erikslundskolan. The school became a high school in 1967, and is definitely worth a visit!

There are about 400 pupils at the school today. Sollunden, the lower and upper primary classes, with is colourful and inviting rooms and corridor is a part of the school. This section, together with the 6 special-needs classes and 11 classes in the high school, add variety to the usual school day!

Guidelines for Erikslundskolan´s Well-being

Everyone - both staff and pupils - is responsible for Erikslundskolan´s well-being. The school´s guidelines should reflect common sense and respect for all. They should also fit all the age groups represented at the school.

The motto for the school´s guidelines is respect:
Of others
Of property
Yourself
Your school work

Erikslundskolan strives to be a school with orderliness, as well as humour and joy!

Some Applications:
Be on time
Have your books and writing material with you to all your classes
Be careful of your school environment, where you throw rubbish
Don´t bring objects that can harm you or property to school with you
Inlines, skateboards and kickboards can only be used to and from school
No riding bikes or mopeds on school grounds
What is bought in the cafeteria should be eaten there. All food or drinks that are bought elsewhere should be eaten there.
No leaving the school grounds during school hours. Written permission from a guardian is needed if you have to leave for some reason.
It is forbidden to go to Komvux
No smoking or the use of snuff allowed
No snowball throwing on school grounds
Keep your jacket in your locker when indoors
No caps or ski hats allowed during lessons, in the assembly hall or dining hall.
Teachers can decide if Walkman or MP3 players can be used during class.

If a pupil breaks one of these guidelines he or she must be prepared to clean up afterwards, replace the damage, make up lost time and even, together with his or her guardian, come to school to discuss the incident.

These guidelines have been drawn up together with the Parent Teacher Association and the School Council.

CHOOSING YOUR UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL

Before choosing your next step in your future education, there are some things you need to know. Pupils in the 8th grade have already had a chance to see what lies ahead. Your choice is steered by your interest, skills and motivation. Whatever choice you make, you have to feel that you are happy with that choice and that it is interesting. Nothing else! This also applies to your choice of vocation etc. later in life.

The pupils have received or will receive a brochure called ‘Choosing a Program´ The brochure contains all the upper secondary schools available to us.
You have probably received loads of information about different schools and courses in the post. They are good, but don´t forget to check the schools´ web sites too
For even more information about the different courses and contents, check www.sjuharad.programvaljaren.se You can find everything you need to know about your choice here.
Each pupil is offered an individual meeting with me to help sort out which choice to make. Parents , together with their son/daughter, can also book an appointment. Get in touch with me to book a time.
The actual choice is done electronically. Each pupil gets a password from me so that he or she can log in and choose. Go in on www.sjuharad.programvaljaren.se or via www.bos.boras.se
Pick a date 2007-01-02 - 2007-02-01. The pupils have almost a whole month to make their choice. Changes can be made as many time as you like. The site closes at midnight on 1st February 2007 when everything should be finished. Each pupil then prints out his or her choice, has a guardian to sign it and then leave it in to me.
The preliminary choice is posted on this site around Easter
You can change your choice between 16th April to 15th May 2007. After that the choice is final. It is possible to stand on a waiting list, which is uncertain.

What choices can I/am I allowed to make?

Pupils can choose between the public, private, national, agricultural and social schools. All choices should be in order of preference.

If you choose a sports programme, then a sports programme application should also be handed in.
