Work in accessibility

Beyond compliance with the legal requirements, the City of Borås embraces the concept of Universal designs. Universal Design is the design and composition of products and environment so that they are accessible, understood and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size or disability.

We believe in the rights of all citizen to have access to all the resources the municipality has to offer. This includes possibilities to enjoy cultural and natural resources, opportunities to accessible education and employment as well as accessibility to information.

The City of Borås has an accessibility consultant and a disability consultant. Both consultants work to increase the accessibility and inclusivity in the city by raising awareness of accessibility issues. They provide support and information to different actors in society such as departments within the municipality as well as private organization.
