Här kommer en liten presentation av Celine och Loic, volontärer på Norrbyhuset. Presentationstexten är på engelska:
We are Celine and Loïc and we are the EVS Volunteers who arrived in May 2017, for a one year project. We came from different part of Europe (Austria and France) to Sweden for different reasons or with different goals but mainly for working with kids. In our home country we don´t have this kind of infrastructure where kids and families can spend a lot of time, benefit from many services, and participate in different activities proposed by the staff. What we are doing manly at work is to play with the kids or in summer going on trips with them like for example going to Upzone or Göteborg or to the pool or to escape rooms.
Now, Celine will tell you a bit about her work: In summer, I enjoyed doing face painting with the kids they really loved it or just have a BBQ. I sometimes helps a bit in the cafe because I really like to bake, I'm in love with kanelbullar and I want to learn how to make them. I even helped some kids with the English homework or simple Swedish homework. I know a bit Swedish but I still have to learn a lot! Some weeks ago we had Austrian culture night where Celine baked the famous Apfelstrudel for everyone to try. One of the many great things here is that everyone at Norrbyhuset help everyone, it doesn’t matter if you work in the cafe and someone needs help in the library or the other way round and I think that’s really great.
Concerning Loïc, his main tasks at work are planning and designing some activities for the kids. The most important thing for him is that the kids enjoy the activities and have fun. In some weeks, he will organise a superheroes afternoon, with films, comics and a quiz. He also worked of a partnership between France and Sweden, included a youth exchange with some kids from Norrby. As a boule player, he organised some boule trainings this summer for the kids. It was very important to transmit his passion for this sport, they had a lot fun! It was an amazing experience for him! Sometimes, he leaves the office for supporting the staff in the daily activities. But most of the time, he stays in stora salen to play table tennis with some kids. At the end of October, he organised a French day to show the diversity of French culture for the people of Norrbyhuset. The kids loved it and all the food disappeared very quickly.
So now you know a little bit more about us, so please come and say Hello next time you are in Norrbyhuset!
