Accessibility – culture, recreation and entertainment
The city of Borås is working on increasing opportunities for its citizens to take part of culture, recreation and entertainment that the city is offering.
Outdoor area
We are continuously working to make our outdoor area such as parks and nature reserves more accessible. We have, for instance, installed an accessible swimming ramp, fishing ramp and created accessible walking trails.
Culture
We offer various activities in our cultural school (individually and in group) for children and youth with disabilities. The city also participates in the national festival or singing competition for people with disabilities who have support and services according to The Act concerning Support and Services to Persons with Certain Functional Disabilities.
Companion card
People with disabilities can apply for a companion card in Borås. The aim of the card is to make it easier for people with disabilities to take part of the culture, recreation and entertainment the city offers. A person with disability who needs support can bring his/her support person without extra cost, for instance to certain cultural events and recreational parks.
Open activity places
There are many activity places that all citizens, including persons with disability, can come to and do various activities, such as playing board games, billiards, and so on. Activity places for specific groups with certain disability are also available if the individuals prefers that.
